With the approach of the June/July winter holidays, the closure of school signals the pause of feeding schemes run by the Sprout Foundation and supported by Alpha. This leaves many learners at Isihlangusabasha Primary School and Westham Secondary School facing uncertainty. For these students, the daily meals provided by these schemes are more than sustenance—they are a lifeline. Recognising this critical need, Alpha has taken a proactive stance by supporting the implementation of a food parcel scheme at both institutions, ensuring that no child goes hungry during the holidays.
At Westham Secondary School, where 270 learners grapple with food insecurity, Alpha contribution of 270 food parcels provides a ray of hope. These parcels, meticulously curated with balanced and nutritious essentials, offer reassurance to students and their families during the holiday season. Similarly, at Isihlangusabasha Primary School, Alpha’s support extends to 50 food parcels specifically allocated to Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVCs), addressing the unique needs of this vulnerable demographic.
By championing the food parcel initiative, Alpha underscores its dedication to uplifting communities and fostering a culture of care and compassion. As these parcels find their way into the hands of those in need, they not only provide nourishment but also symbolise a collective commitment to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to thrive, both in and out of the classroom.
Furthermore, Alpha’s recent “Milk and Cookies” drive showcases the generosity of our staff. With staff members’ contributions totaling 93 boxes of cookies and 91 litres of milk, Alpha not only addresses immediate food needs but also promotes a sense of community and shared responsibility in nurturing the well-being of learners.
