At the very core of our existence is our Vision and Mission to provide unemployed skilled South African graduates with sustainable employment opportunities and professional workplace experience that will fundamentally impact their immediate households and communities.
Leadership team
Andrew and Ryan have accumulated a ten-year professional working relationship beginning from serving their articles at BDO, as C-Suite executives at the Upstream Group and as founding partners of the Affinity Group. They are passionate about this business and the impact it makes on addressing the problem statement of unemployment in South Africa.
Having worked across four continents in Europe, North America, Africa and Australia they have acquired extensive global corporate sector experience. They are well-rounded business leaders in the accounting, legal, financial services, global personal & corporate insolvency, SaaS and business process outsourcing sectors.
Demonstrating a track record of effective strategic leadership that has delivered tangible results and shareholder value for clients and investors alike.
Striving to be impactful leaders using their business interests to uplift the communities in which they carry on their business. Founders and trustees of the Sprout Foundation an NPO established to future proof the South African youth through career guidance via mentorships and workshops.
Ryan Hartslief
Managing Partner
As managing partner, Ryan shares the responsibility for driving the strategic success of Alpha.
Ryan proudly served his articles at BDO and is a qualified and registered Chartered Accountant. He has over 10 years corporate sector experience in auditing, accounting, financial services, software development and business process outsourcing.
His commercial expertise and industry experience in business systems analysis, business process solutions, call center operations and client services development were achieved during his time served as Group Chief Operations Officer and Director of the Upstream Group of companies, having provided services to the likes of Woolworths Financial Services, MR Price Money, RCS, Direct Axis, Capfin, Truworths and The Foschini Group.
Ryan is married with two children, is a self-professed coffee and food aficionado who is passionate about sports of any kind.
Andrew served his articles at BDO in Durban and in 2015 became the Group Chief Financial Officer of the Upstream group of companies.
As managing partner, Andrew is responsible for the commercial success of Alpha. He has extensive industry sector experience in all financial, investment and risk-based services of business process outsourcing and in the contact centre environment.
Andrew has always lived in Durban, is married and has two children and enjoys playing golf and indoor soccer.
Andrew Portmann

UK Partners
Adam and Andy are Alpha’s UK Partners providing operational and account management support in the UK and across Europe. They have experienced outsourcing from either side of the fence; from a customer perspective when outsourcing operations in previous organisations to providing offshore solutions to businesses across UK, North America and Australia as fulfilment partners. This experience enables them to guide customers through the journey from concept to operational ‘go live’ whilst providing boots on the ground for Alpha and its customers throughout the UK.
Adam Wilson
UK Partner
Adam has over 20 years’ experience leading operations and businesses within the financial services industry and contact centre environments. More recently, he has provided sales and operational consultancy services and has led and implemented a range of outsourcing projects, from a UK full 80 seat offshore project to a 5 seat Canadian outsource campaign. Adam lives in the Peak District has a partner and two children. He enjoys playing and coaching a number of sports including cricket, football, and table tennis.
Andy has spent the past 4 years providing business development and client relation services to outsourcing companies in Durban, successfully delivering campaigns and projects across multiple verticals in the UK, USA, Canada and Australia. Prior to this, he led several projects as a UK outsourcing customer including two large scale projects within financial services and financial litigation. Andy lives in Lancashire, has a wife and two children. He enjoys running, keeping fit and football.
